Eric

Greetings and Salutations!

My name is Eric and I am half of the creative force behind our blogs. At 33 years of age, I’ve been fortunate for the things in life that I have been able to experience. I am a firm believer that good or bad, the things that we are exposed to in life help shape our lives. Born in Seoul, South Korea and adopted to a loving mother and father, I spent most of my years growing up in Michigan and later moved to Texas to pursue a better career opportunity.

At the time that I moved, I held $48,000 in debt, $800 in my bank account (after selling/giving most of my belongs),  and had little to no idea about personal finance. Growing up my parents had used a budget as an ugly word. It seemed like a lot of work to me and wasn’t worth the hassle. Of course, I was the kid that hated writing down daily tasks in my high school planner! After moving to Texas, and settling into my new job, I took the initiative and paid off my debt in 20 months using the Dave Ramsey Debt Snowball plan. Soon after, I was able to save up 6 months worth of expenses and could live my life free of debt.

Talk about a transformation!

Two years later I met my future wife and her 3 year old sprout! Both have enriched my life and have helped me to become the best I can be. A year later, and here we are. When I’m not working, I’m helping plan our wedding (July 28th)! And when I’m not planning our wedding, I’m working a second job to help ease the mountain of bills that are soon to come (they are both worth the hassle 10x over).

I couldn’t imagine what my life would have been had I not had the guidance and the assistance to help me through the turbulent times. Since that fateful day five years ago, I have become passionate about the subject of personal finance. I eat, breathe, and live for it, and nothing is more fulfilling than helping others with their struggles, questions, and goals. This is the major reason I decide to start this blog. My hope is that sharing both our challenges and victories that we can educate and/or inspire others to make their goals and dreams a reality.

Hello my friends. Stay awhile and listen.

P.S. Be sure to check out my “Better Half” and her blog as she tackles the task of Homeschooling. She is far braver than I!!!
